The Silver Coast is a very varied region that extends almost from Lisbon to Porto. The strong surf makes the coast a paradise for surfers. But there are lovely places for children too, such as the sheltered bay of São Martinho with the high dune of Salir do Porto nearby, or the beautiful beach of Foz do Arelho. Spot the highest waves in the world in Sitío da Nazaré, or leave from the harbour to search for dolphins.
Discover medieval towns and cities, such as the university town of Coimbra, Aveiro with its canals, the walled Óbidos, or the former bastion of the Templars: Tomar. Why not visit the cultural UNESCO World Heritage Sintra, or go on a pilgrimage to Fátima? You can find protected monasteries in Batalha and Alcobaça. Did you know that there are salt mines inland at Rio Maior?
Portugal is known for its hospitality .... and that includes good food & drinks. Traditional Portuguese cuisine excels in simplicity - putting a fresh and tasty meal on the table with a limited number of ingredients. But also for lovers of fusion and a little more adventure in the kitchen, there are more and more interesting addresses! We still have a long journey of discovery ahead of us, but feel free to ask about our favourites (so far).
